Though there may be an adjustment period for the new API, Google says the changes it has been making to Chrome extensions overall have resulted in meaningful and important improvements in user security and privacy. "We are not preventing the development of ad blockers or stopping users from blocking ads. ![]() "This has been a controversial change since the Web Request API is used by many popular extensions, including ad blockers," Google wrote in a blog post shared with WIRED on Wednesday. Its new iteration, the company says, will better protects users' data and help ad blockers work more more efficiently. Ad blockers rely on that API to comb your browsing data and look for ads. And the pending transition has set up a showdown between Google, makers of ad blocking software, and even other browsers.Īt the heart of the debate is a new application programing interface, known as the Declarative Net Request API, that Google will offer in place of an existing mechanism called the Web Request API. How to block pop ups with a Google Chrome browser extension ![]() They officially certified our union and ruled that we are one statewide community that will bargain one collective bargaining agreement that includes all CAVA teachers statewide. June 28th, 2016 - full PERB board issued a decision that vindicated CAVA teachers’ long struggle to unionize. The PERB board, makes the final decisions concerning disputes of EERA. Unfortunately, rather than accepting the ALJ’s decision, CAVA administration filed an appeal with the entire PERB Board. But we were determined and will never give up.Īfter a five day hearing in March 2015, the PERB Administrative Law Judge (ALJ) determined that we were one statewide bargaining unit and officially certified our union in October of 2015. Furthermore, we were concerned that CAVA administration was making this claim to delay the start of bargaining in the hopes that CAVA teachers would give up on our dream of making CAVA a better school for students and teachers. This didn’t make sense given the way CAVA is set-up. They argued that we were not one statewide school, but rather 10 individual schools and therefore would have to be 10 different unions and bargain 10 different contracts. Unfortunately, CAVA chose instead to contest our decision. ![]() At this point, almost all charter schools respect teachers’ democratic decision and recognize their union. July, 2014 - PERB verified that the majority of CAVA teachers supported unionization. ![]() We decided to unionize to fix many of the problems at CAVA and knew that if teachers had a stronger voice, they could make CAVA work better for our entire community. May 2014 - CAVA teachers began the organizing process by collecting signatures from a super-majority of CAVA teachers expressing support for unionization and submitted them to PERB. CAVA is a public charter school, and thus falls under the EERA and the jurisdiction of PERB. PERB also adjudicates disputes between the union and management when either party violates the appropriate laws (EERA). One important function of PERB is that they oversee the unionization process when public school employees decide to organize. * PERB is a government agency that oversees certain aspects of labor relations pertaining to public sector workers in California. On September, 27th we began negotiating for the first ever Collective Bargaining Agreement between California Virtual Academies and California Virtual Educators United. On June 29th, 2016 CAVA received notice that they were legally required to recognize our union and begin contract negotiations. The full PERB board reviewed the case and upheld the decision. CAVA once again chose to appeal this decision rather than work with us. The decision handed down in October or 2015 affirmed our right to unionize. Rather than recognize our union, CAVA administration and K12 chose to appeal the decision so the matter went to hearing before a PERB Administrative Law Judge in March of 2015. The board determined that we did have majority support. In May of that year we filed for union recognition with the Public Employment Relations Board ( PERB)*. This committee reached out to our colleagues through a calling campaign and gathered petitions to organize throughout the spring of 2014. An Organizing Committee was formed with nearly 50 teachers. In October of 2013 amidst growing frustrations with the direction of our school and the lack of communication with administration, a group of California Virtual Academies teachers met with organizers from California Teachers Association to discuss forming a union to give our teachers more of a voice in the school and make some positive changes for our staff and our students. I used to have a very specific workflow that involved the 2 most common image software on the market. I have not tried to transfer files back and forth between workstations using Affinity and Adobe. I also do my own product photos and print materials so this suite is just what I needed. Because my workflow includes tracing over photos, I appreciate having a suite (Affinity Designer/Photo/Publisher) where it's easy to go back and forth with photo editing. I'm happy that I can use it on multiple computers for my own use, as I have both a home and a studio workstation. The vector editing features are very similar to Adobe Illustrator, but it's a one-time-purchase for this version and updates rather than a subscription model. I have worked on one project to test it during the trial period before purchasing. I tested Affinity Designer on a project that I started in Adobe CS4, continued in Adobe CC working on it in Affinity Designer was seamless. I own all of these Affinity art tools at a fraction of the cost of one Adobe Suite subscription. In fact, I went back and purchased all of their art tool lines: Affinity Photo, Publisher, and art-tool add-ons. The best part is, not only the price of Affinity Designer 1/12 that of Adobe Illustrator subscription, but I actually own Affinity Designer. I was absolutely blown away that I could literally do everything I once did in Illustrator. I put it through all the tests of art design functions I normally used Illustrator for. Each year I had paid over $600 to rent these tools in a subscription. PROSįor many years I worked with the Adobe Suite tools, including Illustrator. Overall, our experience with Walmart photo was a good one. To order from one of their many other photo gift options, like wall art, photo books, blankets, mugs, you'll need to go to the Walmart website and place your order there. Via the Services menu in the Walmart app, select Photo Prints and you can import photos from your camera roll, Facebook, or Instagram to order prints for pickup or home delivery. As with most of the other services, the wallets were a bit darker than necessary, but not to the extent that the average buyer would notice. We were happy with the prints we received. Walmart photo offers metallic easels, wall tapestries, Christmas cards, plates, jewelry, invitations, phone cases-you get it. Many of the photo products are available for pick up the same day or one hour, and all orders over $25 receive free shipping. Walmart is known for its product variety and reasonable prices, so it's no surprise that Walmart's photo service offers both of those things. The poster was also packaged really well and arrived in perfect shape.īut of course, the Shutterfly product lineup is much more extensive than just prints and photo books. Great quality was the uniting thread across all the Shutterfly products we ordered: wallets, 4圆s, 8x10s, a photo book, and a 20x30 poster, with a number of paper options. Those details were lost in all the other services’ prints we tested. They were brighter, lighter prints, which meant tiny details were visible, even in the small wallet-size images. Across the board, Shutterfly sent back the top-quality photo prints. ![]() ![]() This modern hair coloring technique has taken the beauty world by storm, and its easy to see why. Remove vocals from imported audio files.Simplified interface, designed after professional studio software.Using the software, you will be creating your own audio projects even if you never used a multi track editor or a mixer. I am novice to the world of circuitry, so I have a few related questions: What is the purpose of the 1K resistors off the pot outputs? Could they be either lessened (.5K?) or done away with entirely? Would that lessen the gain loss? Is there any gain loss from the potentiometers themselves when they are turned to full volume? Attached is a partial diagram of what I built.Easy Audio Mixer is a multi track editor designed for average users. There is a slight loss of gain (I’d guess 3-6db?) for each pair, compared to running the preamp directly into the recorder, but there is still more than enough gain. It is working very well, it’s dead quiet, I can’t hear any alteration/deterioration of the signal, and I can mix the two pairs however I like, just as intended. I’m running 2 pairs of Schoeps mics into a Fred Forssell preamp, then into the mixer, then two tracks out to a recorder. The jacks are all XLR, it has 4 dual ganged 10K potentiometers with 1K resistors connected to the 8 pot output terminals. I made a variation of this mixer, and have a few questions. Stick this partially peeled label to the enclosure's lid.Īlso, while you're at it, stick the input and output jack labels to the sides of the enclosure. ![]() It is only at this point that the label will be fully applied. At the end, you will need to be able to get underneath the corners of the label to fasten the case shut. The reason for doing it this way is because the enclosure's mounting screws will ultimately be hidden under the label. This is where having split-back sticker paper comes in very handy because you can peel only a little bit of the label at a time. To begin, trim the labels down with scissors and peel the top label such that the far ends still have their backings on. This actually makes it easier to build and debug the circuit. Secondly, understanding the constraints of the enclosure means that you have clearly planned ahead and know what needs to get done. Why invest a lot of time making something if it's hastily jammed haphazardly into a travel soap dish as an afterthought? The nicer you can make this, the less likely it will be to get thrown away some day. First of all, aesthetics are important and you should always make things that look reasonably good. However, I intend to show you how to do it correctly. If you want to ignore my methodology and go your own way, that is your business. There will be no soap dishes with wires sticking out of them in this class. Not only that, I am going to show you how to build them well. In most of these projects throughout this class we will be starting with the enclosure. Typically enclosures are made as after thoughts for electronics projects. This is the simplest audio mixer you can make, but hardly the best one. Otherwise, any time lines intersect, they should be connected together. Also, notice the strange half-loop to the right of the 1K resistor that is third from top? That loop represents a 'hop' in the schematic and means not to connect those wires together. The triangles next to each jack represent a channel. The three boxes that look like strange renderings of potted flowers are actually audio jacks with their barrels connected to ground. This schematic shows the left channels and the right channels being connected together through resistors. You are left with a two channel stereo mixer. ![]() The right channels can be mixed in identical fashion. ![]() If you connect each respective left channels to a 1K resistor, and the other end of each resistor together, then you have effectively mixed the left channels together. The easiest way to do this is to combine them together using resistors. If we want to combine two stereo signals into one, we will need to mix together the left channel of each stereo signal, and the right channel of each signal. A stereo signal is two channels (left and right) which are actually two separate audio signals with a shared ground. ![]() Take pictures to save the beautiful memories of this wonderful waterfall. ![]() This is the world's fourth largest waterfall in waterfalls on a border between nations and the biggest natural waterfall in Southeast Asia 07:00: After breakfast, departure for Ban Gioc Waterfall in Cao Bang. The zinc oxide and titanium dioxide can soak into the ground or get washed into the water. Where does the rest go? It’s simple, into our environment. If you use spray-on sunscreen, you might feel lucky-as many of us do-when half of it ends up on your body. Though the Food and Drug Administration is supposed to review the safety of sunscreens, the agency hasn’t completed review of spray-on sunscreens. However, most people don’t know that even mineral spray-on sunscreen is bad for you if you inhale it. Spray-on sunscreen is really popular right now, especially with kiddos who don’t like to stay still. There is no regulation on non-nano particle sunscreen labeling, so it’s up to the company making the sunscreen to be truthful about their products. If you are trying to buy non-nano mineral sunscreen in the United States, you might look for sunscreen labelled “Non-nano.” Unfortunately, that label-officially at least-means nothing. According to the Environmental Working Group (EWG), “some studies indicate that nanoparticles in large doses can harm living cells and organs.” The smaller the particles are, the higher the chance of it penetrating your skin. The chances of your skin absorbing mineral sunscreen goes up when zinc oxide and titanium dioxide get broken down into nanoparticles. Kiddos don’t understand we have the best intention at heart… *sigh* The bad I call that a little victory for the environment and the parents. ![]() Parents, think of it this way-your kiddos can run around longer without you having to haul them out of play time on the beach to reapply sunscreen. Another good thing about mineral sunscreen is that it stays on your skin longer, meaning that it will protect you from getting a horrible sunburn longer than chemical sunscreens do. If you have sensitive skin, that’s good news. This property also means that they are noncomedogenic, meaning that they don’t clog your pores. Because of this, they cause little to no internal complications. Another good thing about these two substances is that, as long as they aren’t used in their nanoparticle form, they do not get absorbed by our skin. Once you have mineral sunscreen on, you don’t have to wait before doing your fun, sun-filled activities.
